How Hybrid Learning Works: A Beginner's Guide

February 14, 2026 7 min read By Crystiany Guilherme

What is Hybrid Learning?

You want to become an esthetician. But you have a job, a family, a life that can't just be put on pause for a traditional school schedule.

Hybrid learning is the bridge between your current responsibilities and your future career. It combines the flexibility of online education with the irreplaceable value of in-person, hands-on training.

At Crystiany Guilherme Academy, our 600-Hour Hybrid Esthetics Program is designed specifically for busy adults. Here's exactly how it works, step by step.

Your Hybrid Journey

1

Step 1: Online Theory Foundation

Your journey begins in our intuitive online learning platform. You'll have access to high-quality video lessons, reading materials, and quizzes that cover the core science of esthetics: anatomy, physiology, skin analysis, ingredients, and safety protocols.

You study when it fits your life—early mornings, late nights, or weekends. There are no rigid class times. You progress at your own pace, but our instructors are always available via message or scheduled video calls to answer questions.

2

Step 2: Scheduled On-Campus Intensives

Once you've built a solid theoretical foundation, you'll join us at our Framingham facility for concentrated, hands-on practice sessions. Instead of commuting daily, you'll come for scheduled intensives—often on weekends or in blocks that work for your schedule.

This is where theory becomes muscle memory. Under the expert guidance of Professor Lourdes Martinez, you'll practice facials, electrotherapy, waxing, and more on real volunteers in a supervised, supportive environment.

Step 3: The Learning Loop

Hybrid learning isn't a one-time switch between online and on-campus. It's a continuous loop. After a hands-on weekend, you might return to the online platform to review a technique, dive deeper into a related topic, or prepare for the next module.

This flexibility means you can learn in the way that suits you best—re-watching videos, reading at your own pace, or asking questions in person.

4

Step 4: Assessment & Feedback

Throughout the program, you'll complete online quizzes to test your knowledge and practical assessments during on-campus sessions to demonstrate your skills. Our instructors provide detailed, personalized feedback to help you improve.

You'll know exactly where you stand and what you need to focus on to succeed.

5

Step 5: Exam Preparation & Graduation

As you complete your 600 hours, we'll shift focus to preparing you for the Massachusetts state licensing exams. You'll have access to practice tests, study guides, and final review sessions with instructors. Upon graduation, you'll have the skills, confidence, and certification to begin your career.

What You'll Need for the Online Part

The beauty of our hybrid program is its simplicity. To succeed in the online portion, you just need:

Reliable Internet

For streaming video lessons

Computer or Tablet

To access the learning platform

Dedicated Study Time

5-10 hours per week recommended

That's it. No expensive software, no special equipment until you arrive on campus.

Common Questions

"Is hybrid learning less rigorous?"

Not at all. You'll complete the exact same 600 hours and master the same competencies as our on-campus students. The difference is the delivery of the theory portion, not the depth.

"What if I fall behind?"

You won't. Our instructors monitor progress and reach out if they see a student struggling. You can always schedule a one-on-one video call for extra help.

"How are the hands-on sessions scheduled?"

Flexibly. We work with students to find intensive dates that fit. Many of our students have full-time jobs, so we prioritize weekends and evenings for on-campus practice.
